The Birth of Golden Age Foundation

About five years ago when our Founder and Chair, Rebecca, was conducting a research on social innovation, the topic of ageing population repeatedly came up as a social issue in many contexts. At the same time, a number of her family members and friends were facing a series of mid-age life changes, or rather, challenges. This energised her to look for ways to explore and turn such challenges into opportunities to realise the potential of the elderly community.

Rebecca and five social entrepreneurs who shared a similar aspiration teamed up to form the Golden Age Foundation, a multi-sector platform that aims at fostering the development of a smart ageing community and empowering the Golden Agers. In an effort to drive universal participation on this issue, the first-ever Golden Age Expo and Summit was held.

This dream has become a reality. The Foundation initiated and held the Golden Age Expo and Summit in 2016 and 2017, successfully connecting different sectors, generations and people from all walks of life to collaborate and innovate for Smart Ageing Cities. A number of other initiatives, including a B2B platform, radio broadcast, Golden Age Docents, 1212 Golden Age Day, community outreach and all other activities have also been held. The Foundation expresses graditude for support by volunteers, government, private and social enterprises as well as NGOs.

Currently the operation of the Foundation, a registered charity organisation, is financed primarily by the Founder with no direct government funding. We greatly appreciate sponsorships and donations from any person or corporation that concurs with our mission.
