GAES post-event report

"BOC Life 9th Golden Age Expo and Summit" was held from 2 to 4 August 2024 at Hall 3FG at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s event was the largest in its history. Under the theme of “Sustainable Smart Ageing”, GAES 2024 aimed to foster collaboration between the civil, business, government, academic and research sectors and across generations, to showcase innovative products, services and the latest technologies for the Golden Age population.

The 8th Golden Age Expo & Summit (2023) celebrates the theme of "Transform with Agility", civil, business, government, academic and research sectors incorporate together to seek good solutions for ageing issues. To cope with the challenges of the post-epidemic era, we should adopt agile thinking and innovative ideas to lead Hong Kong to transform into a Smart Ageing City in Asia and create a better future!

The 7th Golden Age Expo and Summit (GAES) serve as a co-creation platform for golden agers and all sectors and celebrates the theme of “Smart Ageing: Innovation, Sustainability and Inclusion”. Showcasing the latest smart ageing technologies, innovative products and services, GAES offers the most effective way for business entrepreneurs, regional community leaders, global professionals and policy makers to exchange insights, share good practices and expand their networks.

Golden Age Expo and Summit 2021 (GAES 2021) has successfully concluded! Presented in both online and offline formats for the first time, GAES 2021 would not have been a resounding success without the generous support from all participating leaders, speakers, organisations, visitors, volunteers and staff.

Due to the pandemic, the 5thGolden Age Summit was transformed into the online Smart Ageing for Tomorrow in the Time of Pandemic summit series. The Honourable Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, joined the opening ceremony as the Guest of Honour. Over 30 leaders in civil, business, government, academic and scientific sectors also spoke at the summit and discussed the latest smart ageing topics affected by the pandemic and in the new normal. These in-depth discussions also explored new thoughts and practices covering business, finance, science and technology, elderly care, cross-generational collaboration, etc, under the new normal.

The 4th Golden Age Expo and Summit celebrated the theme of the “Golden Age” and showcased a diverse range of innovative solutions. The event gathered various social enterprises as well as non-profit and corporate organisations to tackle population ageing through new thoughts, methods and technology. The expo also featured new exhibition areas featuring solutions by the Hong Kong Federation of Senior Citizen Industries, smart ageing start-ups, life and death education and the new Social Innovation for Golden Age: DBS Impact Award.

Featuring over 100 exhibition booths, the third Golden Age Expo and Summit showcased thousands of local and overseas products and services specially curated for the golden age community. The summit also brought together over 80 local and international speakers to discuss healthcare, finance, technology, housing, home care services, generation integration and active ageing to help Hong Kong transform into a smart ageing city.

Golden Age Expo and Summit was the only large-scale event of its kind specially curated for the community to learn more about the latest innovations in the ageing industry and smart ageing topics. The event attracted a high number of retired and current government officials, celebrities and professionals from the commercial, non-profit and social enterprise sectors as well as people from all walks of life.

Golden Age Expo and Summit – the first large-scale event ever held in Hong Kong – was specially curated to encourage golden agers, individuals aged 45 and above and those who are preparing or have retired, to lead healthy and meaningful lives. Empowering them to make positive contributions to society, the event also featured a summit series that gathered local and overseas speakers to discuss what we could do to drive the golden age economy by leveraging technology, commercial operations, improving services and more topics to transform Hong Kong into a smart ageing city.
