Golden Age Volunteer Program Sharing Session and Graduation Ceremony

Ocean Park has launched the “Ocean Park x Sino Group Golden Age Volunteer Programme 2020” to recruit retirees as volunteers and narrators at the Park’s attractions in order to promote volunteerism and caring for the environment. With rich knowledge and great life experiences, retirees are assets to society. Through this programme, retirees can excel their valuable skills to promote biodiversity and the protection of natural habitats among locals and tourists.

The "Ocean Park x Sino Group Golden Age Volunteer Programme 2020" has been successfully concluded. The sharing session and closing ceremony will be held on 27 August 2021. The sharing session will introduce the achievements of the programme and invite two docents to share their experience gained from the project. The graduation ceremony will be held after the sharing session.

Ms. Doris Leung

Retired for nine years, Doris is a former housing manager responsible for estate management and training. She retired from her job and devoted all her time to taking care of her family members. The Golden Age Volunteer Programme organised by Ocean Park enabled her to regain satisfaction and confidence in life. She was able to explore nature and learn about animals. She felt rewarding sharing the knowledge she acquired with visitors. Equally fulfilling was the opportunity to meet like-minded friends who inspire her to pursue life-long learning.

Mr. Alan Wong

Assistant Discovery & Education Manager, Ocean Park Hong Kong

Alan is currently working as an Assistant Discovery & Education Manager at Ocean Park Hong Kong, He has served the Park for more than ten years. He is responsible for managing, planning, organizing and conducting volunteer and internship programmes with NGO and universities to convey animal conservation messages to park visitors. Alan has trained more than 1000 volunteers, of different age from Corporate to Schools, from Elders to Youth.

Mr. KK Yiu

KK is a former secondary school teacher. After retirement, he actively participated in various volunteer activities, including joining the Golden Age Volunteer Programme to promote conservation messages to the public. Starting from April, he also started to work with the animal keepers in taking care of the animals' living and well-being.
