Innovation in Cross-border Elderly Care
Abstract: The cramped living space and long wait for residential care homes in Hong Kong have led more seniors to consider living in other cities, notably in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Yet more updated information on the living conditions, medical and financial planning, policy support, etc., needs to be made available for the elderly and their families to decide with confidence. Experts on elderly care in the GBA will share their insights on cross-border collaborations between Hong Kong and the Mainland and their corporate strategies in developing the elderly market. The latest Government policy developments for fostering closer collaboration within the GBA on the golden age economy, talent, capital, and standardization will also be discussed.

Mr HO Kai-ming, JP
Under Secretary, Labour and Welfare
Mr HO Kai-ming has been Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare since 2020. He has served as Council Member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Director-General of the Hong Kong Manufacturing Industry Employees General Union, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Clerical and Professional Employees General Union. Prior to joining the Government, Mr Ho was a member of the Legislative Council, and of the Kwun Tong District Council from 2012 to 2019. He is also a member of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions. Mr Ho holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Senior Economist, Senior Accountant, Previously served as the President of Nanjing Agricultural Bank of China Chengbei Branch, Vice President of Nanjing Agricultural Bank, Chief Financial Officer of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Head Office and President of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Shenzhen Branch. Established Shenzhen Merit Asset Management Co., Ltd. in 2006, Established Regard Senior Care Group in 2013.

WANG Li-jun has been engaging in senior service standardization for a long time. He is the chief drafter of “Technical Standard for Quality Evaluation of Senior Nursing Homes in Guangdong Province” and the organization and implementation of the 2017-2019 Guangdong Province senior nursing home star ratings. He drafted standards of Ministry of Education “1+x” Project “Occupational Skill Level for Elderly Care ” , served as the editor of the textbook of “Vocational Skills of Elderly Care” and drafted two local standards ” General Specification for Age-friendly ProductS” and “Basic Specifications of Comprehensive Elderly Care Service Center”.
Mr XU Mei-ping
President, Shenzhen Social Welfare Association
Xu Mei-ping, senior engineer, first-class construction engineer, experienced practitioner in elderly care. Mr Xu is the founder of "Shum Yip Senior Care", he also founded senior care brands "Shum Yip Yiju” and "Shum Yip Health Home". He presided over or participated in the formulation of local standards and group standards. He was the chairman of Shum Yip Health Company, Shum Yip Rehabilitation Hospital and other companies.

Mr Kenneth CHAN Chi-yuk
Chairman, The Elderly Services Association of Hong Kong
Mr Kenneth Chan is the Chairman of The Elderly Services Association of Hong Kong (TESA). Mr Chan had committed to the enhancement of elderly welfare for over twenty years, and held a number of public service positions throughout the years. Mr Chan was appointed as the member of the Elderly Commission from 2005 to 2011. Activity involved in the quality advancement of local elderly service, Mr Chan had led his team of professions in direct service and contributed to implementing the diversified service model on community support and residential care all over Hong Kong.
