Resilience: A resource for coping against life adversities in late-life.
Resilience has been conceptualised as the ability of a person to rebound from an adversity, and is intimately related to a myriad of physical and mental health outcomes. Resilience, as both a theoretical concept and an intervention goal, is particularly relevant to adjustment of expected and unexpected challenges of elderhood. This symposium will showcase a series of research that applied the concept in understanding the adjustment of young- and mid-olds to caregiving, chronic illnesses and challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The symposium will also highlight how resilience may be enhanced by holistic and expressive art interventions.
