Abstract
As human lifespans continue to increase, living to 100 years old is no longer a rarity. How can impact investing be leveraged to create a more sustainable future for the ageing population? This session will discuss investment strategies and case studies from private financial institutions, non-profit organisations and foundations, exploring how impact investing can generate positive social and environmental benefits alongside financial returns.

Chairman, Financial Services Development Council
Mr Laurence Li, SC is the Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC). The FSDC is an advisory body to the HKSAR Government on all matters relating to the development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre. It engages the industry in formulating proposals to promote the further development of the financial services industry of Hong Kong and to map out the strategic direction for the development.
Mr Li’s profession is a practicing barrister. He focuses on banking, commercial, company, and securities law. Prior to being called to the Hong Kong Bar, he served in several positions within the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong and, before that, worked in a law firm in New York.
Mr Li is a Judge of the International Court and Regulatory Tribunal in Doha, Qatar. He is also a Fellow of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an Honorary Fellow of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law at The University of Hong Kong, and a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Financial Regulation and Economic Development at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr. William T. Smith is the Chair of the NGO Committee on Ageing at the United Nations in New York and President/CEO of Aging in America, Inc. With over 53 years of experience in social work and gerontology, he has led various non-profit agencies. Dr. Smith is an esteemed expert in gerontology, recognized for his significant contributions to the field. He was a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Ageing. Dr. Smith received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor 2006 for his dedication to community service. Active in professional associations, he has influenced long-term care policies in the USA through national committees and advisory boards.
A certified social worker, licensed nursing home administrator, and certified retirement housing professional, Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from Fordham University. He has held key roles at healthcare organizations and universities, showcasing his dedication and achievements to the field.

Ir Dr Alan Lam is one of awardees of Ten Outstanding Young People in Hong Kong in 2015 (industry and business). He has been engaged in scientific research and information technology research and development since 1996, and has been actively participating in various professional and public services in the information technology sector. He founded Sengital Limited in 2004.
Over the years, Dr Alan Lam has won numerous awards and obtained dozens of innovation and technology awards and related patents. He actively promotes innovation and technology and service industries. He is currently serving as Chairman of LSCM (Logistics and Supply Chain Multi-Tech R&D Centre), an Adjunct Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong, teaching courses related to the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. Lai-Chong Au is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Delta Asia Financial Group and serves on its board of directors.
Lai-chong has rejoined Delta Asia Financial Group, her family’s business, since 2016. As the Group CEO, Lai-Chong is responsible for leading the development and execution of the Group’s long term strategy as well as all day-to-day management decisions. She also acts as a direct liaison between the Board, other senior management as well as employees, all stakeholders of the company. Before becoming the Group CEO, Lai-Chong oversees the wealth management & securities brokerage business in Hong Kong.
Prior to Delta Asia, Lai-Chong was the Senior Marketing and Client Services Manager of Hamon Investment Group, an asset management firm. She developed the asset management business of Hamon as well as responsible for expanding the asset size and client base of the firm. Over the years, Lai-Chong helped to broadening the firm’s institutional relationships globally. Lai-Chong began her career as Commercial banking officer with Delta Asia Credit Limited in 1998 and later responsible to develop the wealth management business of the group. Lai-Chong has over 20 years of experience in financial industry.
Lai-Chong is passionate about social responsibility investment and social entrepreneurship. Lai-Chong currently is a member of Golden Age Foundation and is a regular columnist at AM730.
