Research Background
Golden Age Foundation and the University of Hong Kong jointly launched the Hong Kong Smart Ageing Index 2021 a few years ago. The findings at the time highlighted that the "sandwich generation" required more support. The current survey continues to focus on the lives of the golden-aged population, aiming to better understand their needs and expectations in retirement preparation.
Research Overview
This survey was conducted in May 2025 to gain deeper insights into the needs and expectations of Hong Kong's golden-aged individuals regarding retirement planning, lifestyle, health, and social engagement. The results will serve as a key reference for developing targeted support measures to enhance the quality of life before and after retirement. A total of 556 questionnaires were collected from residents aged 45 or above, with 428 valid responses, achieving a response rate of 77%.
